The North Shore

Unpredictable weather brought a change of plans. What better to do when it's quite windy, colder than expected, with occasional rain? Go where the wind is strongest and when exiting the truck, hang on for dear life!

Our aimless drive to nowhere in led us through Superior & Duluth up to Silver Bay before heading back. While a gloomy day is not the best for photography, we thought it best to share a few of them. If you happen to be anywhere near there, rain or shine, this is one of my all time favorite drives and well worth the visit.

Highlights below are Gooseberry Falls, Iona's Beach (Pink Sands) Scientific & Natural Area, Beaver Falls, Rocky Taconite at Silver Bay, Black Beach, Illgen Falls, and Palisade Head. Other stops I would recommend: Split Rock Lighthouse, Two Harbors, keep to the Scenic Drive instead of the Express route, and continue north to the border (or beyond if you have your passport).
