A beautiful, sunny spring day beckoned us to spend some time in nature. Opting for a hike to see Stillhouse Hollow Falls seemed like an easy choice. We arrived in the small parking area and were lucky to get one of the last spaces available. Even though the lot was full, we only passed a few people on the trail. The falls appeared after descending from the top of the hill and crossing a bridge over the creek.
The 75 foot tall shower of water cascading over the ledge was well worth the hike. The water glistened in the spring sunshine, since the trees offered little shade this early in the year. The pool at the bottom of the falls looked like it would be very inviting to take a dip or cool your feet, but only if the air temperature would have been a little warmer. Split rail fences dotted some areas along the trail. On the valley floor, near the falls, were the remnants of an old foundation and chimney to explore and imagine what life in the past might have been like.
The added bonus of hiking this time of year are the wildflowers you can find along the forest floor. As you can see, this trail did not disappoint in that manner either.
