OVERNIGHTING

We were heading south from Pinedale Wyoming to try securing a spot near Flaming Gorge to spend Labor Day, and saw that Big Sandy Reservoir near Farson WY would be a nice stop about halfway to break up the drive, not that it was all that far. Why not check another place out for a night since we are going right by?
We stayed at GPS 42.259325,-109.438050 on the west side of the reservoir. There are two vault toilets in that area, and another on the east side. To get to the east side, there is a narrow bridge to cross that Al did not think was wide enough for our motorhome, but after getting out the tape measure, it’s actually 12 feet wide. There were several camping spots along the south side as well. I can’t comment on the other areas, but the west side had several trash cans. There is no dump station or fresh water available, so prepare before arriving. Our phone and internet service was fine enough to make calls and stream some television.
There were piles of varied gravel coarseness at the edge of the road near the lake in our area and construction equipment along the road near the reservoir outlet/bridge area. The gravel road coming from US-191 is mostly washboard-like with some larger potholes here and there, so maybe that’s an improvement in the works. That aside, I chugged along slowly in the earthshaker, hoping no more pantry goods were trying to escape, and we made it to the campsite unscathed.
Al managed to get a couple sunset photos, later the full moon made the motorhome glisten. The Wyoming Range was a bit farther away to the west, but the Wind River Range made for a nice backdrop looking east from our campsite. I didn’t sleep a whole lot, having more pains than usual, which allowed me to watch the intense colors of daybreak occurring. Once it was bright out, I tried waking Al as around thirty horses and ponies paraded past the windshield, but he was in a deep sleep. Suki didn’t want to get out of bed either.
We only planned to stay the one night, so once he woke up, we got everything packed and hit the road again. I could see coming back and spending some time paddling the lake in the kayak. Once the construction is done and the gravel piles are gone, it would be a nice place to spend a week or two.

The past week has been hectic. We got new tires on the truck, stocked up at Costco, tried getting my laptop hinges fixed but it’s broken too bad (I’m still typing on it right now!) and the hard drive is going to die soon. We bought me a new laptop but had to return it as it had problems, then picked up another that I’m afraid to look at for now. For a metro area, Salt Lake City traffic is not so bad, but I’m hoping we can stay away from the big cities for a while. It seemed like every single day we had to go somewhere. Normally, we move the motorhome one day every week or two and go exploring in the truck only once a week as well.
Today, we headed south about 100 miles to the Fishlake National Forest. This is the first time that our intended campsite was full, but after driving around maybe 15 minutes, we found a much better one only a mile or two away. We have mountain views in every direction and not another person or vehicle in our sight! The internet is giving us downloads of around 300 and upload around 60! We had a few sprinkles on the drive, and yet the solar charged the batteries to 100%.
We got a brief nap in this afternoon, picked up some trash around the campsite, cleaned the windshields, helped each other make a nice dinner of pulled pork and loaded baked potatoes. We are trying to decide if we should spend a couple days here, maybe check out Goblin Valley State Park (120 miles away) or a day trip to Moab (160 miles away), or should we just continue heading south? We have some catching up to do on pictures and posts, but I’m indecisive as to plug along on my old laptop until it dies or fall more behind while getting the new one up and running first? Does anyone know how to successfully network two Windows 11 computers for file sharing? We are blocked by Windows Security and it’s “Enter Network Credentials” screen. We’ve watched too many videos, following every step but no luck. I’ve never had a problem setting up a wireless network before using Windows 11. Could I downgrade the new laptop to Windows 10?
It’s been a good day. We are still trying to figure out what to do tomorrow... I’m leaning toward taking the day off and doing nothing at all! Got any suggestions?
