Late March 2023, while in Winfield AL for maintenance, we took the half-hour drive to Natural Bridge, having previously been there in May 2012. We hiked the one-mile loop trail, but the natural bridge itself is very close to the entrance. The bridge was just as we remembered, with the added bonus of spring wildflowers and the lighter greens of the surroundings coming to life after their winter rest.

From underneath, the unique shape seems like a helmet of protection. The trail guides you around the perimeter, trickling water showering down from the middle.

We had the place to ourselves for a more leisurely and relaxing pace. I hadn't remembered the rocky surfaces having such a labyrinth of textures, so many varieties of lichens and moss, or the cascading water at the far end of the trail. Then again, we may not have walked the entire loop the last time.
The photos below are from the 2012. The face in the rock now hides behind a few grown trees making it seem a bit camera-shy. I have a feeling we will be back again much sooner than 11 years.
