Warm sunshine and rain has given us some extra greenery. One of the bushes near the motorhome has tiny purple flowers. They are so tiny I wouldn’t have noticed them, except there are bees buzzing all around. They are busy little guys, chasing from bloom to bloom to gather nectar. It is hard to imagine they get much from each blossom, but they keep working at it and get what they can.

Seeing these Western Honey Bees made me think of all the exercise they are doing, without knowing it. Those little wings really get a workout. We can exercise in much the same way. Many of the things we do on a daily basis actually keeps us fit. Gardening, mowing, washing your car, vacuuming, and mopping are all chores that give us exercise. Other ways to get a little extra exercise is to park at the far end of the parking lot, or take the stairs instead of the elevator. I think building things or working on cars burn calories and keep the muscles active. When I think of exercising, things like hiking, biking, walking, rock climbing, and weight lifting are what comes to mind. Remember the best exercise is the one you will do, so find something you enjoy and keep doing it to get the results you want.
I have kept pace with my exercises this week, being sure I do them each day, although sometimes it’s at 11:30 at night. I think my favorite ones are bike riding and stretching. The feeling of wind on the face feels fantastic, as well as the leg workout. Having my muscles more limber and not having to strain when bending over has been fantastic, but I wonder if I should change up the exercises, do something different. I am looking for suggestions, so if you have a favorite, let me know. Sumo wresting anyone? Next week I will check in on measurements.
Lynn and I got some exercise by walking through the Rock and Gem Show in Quartzsite a few days. It’s almost over now, but I have enjoyed browsing the show grounds looking at all of the colorful rocks and gems. I’m amazed at the gems nature creates: the vivid colors and patterns are endless. Each stone you see is more beautiful or interesting than the last. I don’t know much about them, but I loved looking, talking to the vendors, and learning a little bit about the stones. I even treated myself to a few pieces of Lapis!

Tonight was another colorful sunset, a litle more subdued, but still gorgeous. Lynn joined and helped us with dinner, peeling butternut squash, sweet potatoes and carrots, while I brushed off mushrooms and Tom did the chopping. Roasted veggies with buttered noodles was a treat from the usual fare we’ve been eating, not to mention healthy enough to go with my Friday exercise post!
